On March 21, Prof. Segbers, the director of the Center for Global Politics (CGP), held a public lecture on the topic of “Europe in Transition: A Pillar of the Liberal World Order or Object of Populist Seduction?” at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The Global Politics Seasonal Schools are short-term intensive certificate programs for advanced students with a talent for research and a global mindset. Organized by Freie Universität Berlin and a renowned partner university abroad, each school brings together highly qualified students to discuss today’s main developments in politics, economy and society.

On the 21st of February, the department of the German language with the assistance of the German Studies Russia´s program coordinator – Mr. Dominik Sonnleitner organized a meeting between the lecturers and students of MGIMO and the editor of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Moscow – Mr. Friedrich Schmidt. The event was conducted in German.
The students of both online programs of the Center for Global Politics, namely the East European Studies Online (EES) and the International Relations Online (IRO) programs, spent another exciting week of in-house classes on the campus of the Freie Universität Berlin.

Scholars from the Center for Global Politics and/or the Department for Politics at the Institute for East European Studies have been part of the University Consortiums first project round (running from October 2015 to December 2017), a project which has the main aim to reinforce and support cooperation between Universities from Russia and “the West”.
