About Prof. Andreas von Staden
Andreas von Staden is Assistant Professor of Political Science, especially Global Governance, in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg. His principal research interests revolve around the ways in which law and politics interact in regional and global governance, most notably in relation to issues of compliance. Past and current research addresses such issues as compliance with the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, the role of the principle of subsidiarity in multi-level governance systems, empirical approaches to legitimacy, the political economy of international law, and select aspects of human rights and of investment protection. Andreas holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University and M.A. degrees from Princeton University, Yale University and the University of Hamburg. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Hamburg, he was Assistant Professor of International Organization at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
